First test drive after painting, end of July 2008

Story of the exhibit

A road roller of the former Tallinn Road Construction and Repair Administration (TERV). After that organisation disappeared, it ended up in Harku at what is now the AS Ceres nursery. The roller was discovered in late winter 2006 by machinery enthusiast and friend of the Old Tech Park Peeter Tiisväli. In the autumn of the same year some members of the Old Tech Park's board and friends of the Old Tech Park came up with the idea that, if possible, an old road roller could be added to the collection. In the last days of 2006 Old Tech Park representatives went to see the roller, and after negotiations with representatives of the owner, AS Ceres, it was brought to the Old Tech Park in spring 2007. When received, the roller was complete and essentially in working order, but after years outdoors its paintwork was almost completely gone. In summer 2008, preparing for the vintage machinery convoy held during the Old Tech Park's 2nd Big Campaign, friends of the Old Tech Park Silver Kuik and Martin Männik gave the roller a better look, partly with help from Aivo Pille. By now the roller would need repainting again. The roller took part in the vintage machinery convoys in 2008 and 2012, the Convoy of Curious Vehicles in 2014 and "Built in Estonia 2016" / the 10th vintage machinery convoy in 2016. Apart from the one at the Estonian Road Museum, this is the only other known surviving DU-50 road roller in Estonia.
