Story of the exhibit

The tractor was built by the donor Ants Tagel's father Viktor Tagel (17.07.1923 – 13.12.1990). It is the fifth home-built tractor by this skilled craftsman. Units from various vehicles were used – for example, a Moskvitch engine, the rear wheels of a GAZ-52 truck and so on; it also has hydraulic and electrical systems. The tractor was finished in autumn 1990, just before the change of regime, which also brought a general decline in the potato-growing hobby in the country – there was nothing left to plough, harrow or haul. In December of the same year the builder died. The tractor stood unused for years; only the engine was started from time to time. When it was handed over to the Old Tech Park, a leaking radiator and a broken clutch release bearing were found. The engine and hydraulics are in working order. The tractor also comes with a home-built trailer with iron wheels. Ants Tagel decided to donate the tractor to the Old Tech Park to preserve the memory of his father. In spring and summer 2010, as part of the "Built in Estonia – 2010" campaign, Eno Hermann, Aivar Hermann and Peeter Juurik restored the tractor. On 2 August 2014 the donor Ants Tagel drove the tractor in the Convoy of Curious Vehicles in Järva-Jaani.
