Story of the exhibit

The car was brought second-hand from Moscow in spring 1988 and was last driven in autumn 2006. In Estonia it originally carried the registration plate р2640ЕА. When its roadworthiness certificate expired, it was retired at the beginning of 2007, as repairing it was no longer economical and there was no real need for it. Even so, the owner would not part with the idle Zhiguli until it had been in his possession for 20 years. That round anniversary came in May 2008, and the donation took place that autumn. On 21 October 1990 the car was involved in a fairly serious accident in Tartu: in a collision with a VAZ-2102 the front passenger was quite badly injured, and the car was off the road for a long time. Even so, it was made roadworthy again by the end of summer 1991. At present the engine is in working order, but the body is in poor condition. The Järva-Jaani Old Tech Park thanks Mr Rein Kuik for the donation. It was made on the initiative of Rein Kuik's son, friend of the Old Tech Park and board member Silver Kuik.
