At the convoy Built in Estonia 2013

Story of the exhibit

Tõnu Paalmäe remembers: This tractor was built in 1986 by Mart Vaher from Kadjaste village in Vändra municipality. He had an old Moskvitch-401 in his yard, and he welded the tractor together from it and a two-horse mowing machine. The tractor came with a single-axle cart, a plough, ridging bodies and a cultivator. All these implements were built by Mart Vaher himself and adapted for this tractor. They are still waiting for their fate in Pärnu-Jaagupi. If anyone is interested, they could be given away too. Everything is in working order and could also be used with a T-25. This tractor has spent most of its 27 years standing by the fence. In the first years my father did try to mow hay and make potato furrows with it, but as he knew absolutely nothing about machinery himself (he had been a horseman all his life), it was hard going. Mart Vaher came a few times to repair the tractor 'under warranty', so to speak, but over such a long distance it was difficult. The tractor surely had its teething troubles too, and if you can't repair it yourself, it's hard to get by with such a contraption. Another similar tractor built by this craftsman should still be with the Lõo family in Pärnu-Jaagupi. It was built before ours, and seeing it was what made my father want one too.
