Story of the exhibit
Tõnu Paalmäe remembers: This bike was also bought new from the Pärnu-Jaagupi department store, in spring 1978. So in April this year I will have had it for 35 years. As the Riga-7 was no longer made at that time, this model had to be bought. It looked rather strange at first because of its unusual shape, as until then all mopeds had had the tank at the front. I have ridden thousands of kilometres on this bike. For years I rode it to work at the sawmill of the then "Edasi" collective farm – 18 kilometres every day plus weekend rides. I started riding in March, when the asphalt was clear of snow, and stopped in November, when the roads got slippery. That's how the kilometres added up. It was in constant use for 12 years and was retired in autumn 1990. In 1982 I fitted it with the magneto from a T-74 starter engine, as the constant ignition adjustment got tiresome. That was the best solution at the time. After that it ran for years without problems. Everything on it is original.
