Story of the exhibit

A main fire engine built on a bus chassis by the Finnish coachbuilder Erikoiskori OY. The two-door cab seats 6, and the water tank holds about 3000 l. In Finland it was used by the fire brigade of the town of Salo (call sign Salo 12); in 2004 it was bought for Estonia by the then Pärnumaa Rescue Service as the main vehicle of the Häädemeeste station. In 2009 it was handed over to the Kihnu station as its main vehicle. When the Rescue Board provided Kihnu with a newer MAN main vehicle at the beginning of 2018, it became surplus. Only 9900 km on the clock!

About the model

A bus chassis that was also used to build special vehicles (for example fire engines and library buses). In Finland it was known by the nickname Moni-Sisu. There were two main models: the earlier SB127 and, from 1981, the SB140. Fire engines used the Valmet 611 six-cylinder diesel combined with an Allison automatic gearbox. As far as is known, both main fire engines and technical rescue vehicles were built on Sisu SB-series chassis in the early 1980s, with both three- and six-seat cabs (but always with two doors).
