Story of the exhibit

A car trailer made to special order at Nuia EPT, welded together from the rear ends of two Zhiguli (VAZ-2101) cars. The rear axle comes straight from a VAZ, and the shock absorbers are retained too. Opening the lockable fuel filler flap reveals the control panel of the trailer's electrical system. The panel has a separate ignition lock with a key (taken from a Jawa motorcycle), push buttons for opening the boot lids on both sides, probably switches for the side lights (two three-position switches), a panel light and a 12V outlet (a cigarette lighter socket). In the middle of the boot, above the axle, is a place for a battery; the locking system was probably powered by the battery, while the trailer lights were powered from the car via a cable. Inside the trailer is a supporting frame of 25x25 mm square steel tube. The rear lid has been opened at the lock with an angle grinder. Presumably the trailer was left standing and the battery powering the locking system went flat, so there was no other way to open the lids than to cut the metal with a grinder.
