172. центральный авторемонтный завод МО CCCP
Country: Russian SFSR
City: Voronezh
The plant's history dates from the Second World War years, when it was the 309th Army Repair Battalion. In autumn 1945 it settled in the city of Voronezh. Later it was mainly engaged in the major overhaul of army GAZ vehicles. In 1967 production began of the 38AS, a four-wheel-drive bus based on the GAZ-66, which was replaced in the 1970s by the APP-66, also based on the GAZ-66 chassis. Alongside and after these buses, army mobile workshops, crew transport vans and fire engines were also built. Today the plant is subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Defence and builds crew transport vans, fire engines and refuse trucks, as well as overhauling GAZ, KamAZ and Ural vehicles.
