Yerevan Automobile Plant
Ереванский автомобильный завод
Country: Armenian SSR, USSR
City: Yerevan
The plant, which had previously built forklifts, was turned into a car plant in 1965 by decision of the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR. It began producing the van version of the Riga plant's RAF-977, designated JerAZ-762. With few changes this model was built until the mid-1990s. The main visual difference between the JerAZ and the RAF was the ribbed side panels. In the early 1970s a new van, the JerAZ-3730, was also developed, but it only reached production at the end of the 1980s. In 1995 the plant was privatised; in 2002 the company went bankrupt and car production stopped. See more on the website www.yeraz.auto.am!
