Moscow Small Car Plant
Московский завод малолитражных автомобилей (МЗМА)
The history of the Lenin Komsomol Automobile Plant begins in November 1930, when the State KIM (Communist Youth International) Car Assembly Plant in Moscow (Государственный автосборочный завод имени КИМ в Москве) began assembling Ford cars and trucks. In 1933 the plant became a branch of the Gorky Automobile Plant and began producing ГАЗ-АА trucks. In 1940 it was renamed the Moscow KIM Automobile Plant (Московский автомобильный завод имени КИМ) and began producing the КИМ-10 small car. After the war the plant was renamed the Moscow Small Car Plant (Московский завод малолитражных автомобилей (МЗМА)), production was rebuilt and manufacture of the "Москвич" (Moskvitch) small cars began. In October 1968 the plant was renamed the Lenin Komsomol Automobile Plant (Автомобильный завод имени Ленинского комсомола (АЗЛК)).
