Riga bicycle plant «Sarkana Zvaigzne»
Rigas velosipedu rupnica (Рижский велосипедный завод)
The Soviet-era Riga bicycle plant (official name Rigas Velo Rupnica, RVR) was formed from several pre-war factories, mainly in place of the pre-war Omega bicycle factory, and kept the Omega name as a trademark, as well as many of the design and construction features of the pre-war Omega bicycle.
The Omega trademark appeared on pedals, bells, pumps, skirt guard clips, the handgrips of some models and elsewhere until the end of bicycle production at the Riga plant. In 1960 bicycle production at the Riga plant ended (though a few bicycles were still made in 1961), and the plant began making "Gauja" motorised bicycles, which started its transformation into a moped plant.
Summarised from the Auto-Moto forum (Valdo Praust)
Bicycles made in Riga (both men's and women's models were built) were also widespread in Estonia, and many served their owners for decades.
When the plant was turned into a moped plant, its former name "Sarkana Zvaigzne" (Red Star) was kept.
