Story of the exhibit

The vehicle was used for a long time at the Lilleküla station in Tallinn, and for a while also at military unit no. 1964 in Männiku. According to some sources it was also used to carry foam concentrate to the fire at the Kirishi petrochemical plant (Leningrad region) in 1986; the middle axle broke during that operation but was later replaced. Later the vehicle went to the Kohila station as a tanker, until it was retired because of a leaking tank. For the last few years it stood unused in Rapla. The pump and its drive were removed in Rapla before the vehicle was handed over to the Järva-Jaani Fire Brigade Society. In July 2009 Jaanus Peidus and friends restored the vehicle and renewed its paintwork.

Relatively few Ural fire engines were used in Estonia; their biggest drawback was their enormous fuel consumption (over 60 l of petrol/100 km).
