Story of the exhibit
A former mobile pumping unit of the 2nd ISTÜ (independent militarised fire unit) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Estonian SSR (later the Mustamäe rescue station), bought new for Estonia. After the change of regime it was first handed over to the Tallinn Fire and Rescue Board, around the turn of the century passed to Pärnu-Jaagupi and in 2006 to the Haapsalu rescue station (last call sign Haapsalu 34). After it was withdrawn from state rescue service, it was handed over to the non-profit Priitahtlikud Pritsumehed, which runs the Kirna and Palivere volunteer stations. Due to wear and little use it was decided to donate the vehicle to the Järva-Jaani Old Tech Park. When handed over to the Old Tech Park, it had covered only 3969 km!
About the model
A self-propelled fire pumping station built on the ZiL-131 truck at the Pryluky fire equipment plant. From 1962 to 1990 Pryluky built a total of 2017 similar pumping stations on ZIL-157 and ZIL-131 trucks; later production of pumping stations with the same designation (PNS-110) moved to the Torzhok fire equipment plant, and the superstructures were also fitted to KamAZ and Ural truck frames. The vehicle's PN-110 pump has a capacity of 110 l/s and is driven by a separate D-12A V12 diesel engine. The pumping station is designed to supply water to hose trucks, fire engines and tankers and to stationary monitors through supply lines up to 150 mm in diameter; depending on the terrain and hose diameter, water can be supplied over distances of up to 6–7 kilometres.
