Story of the exhibit
On the first weekend of December 2006 a TA-3761-01 bread van arrived at the Old Tech Park from the motor depot of the former Ministry of Health (garage no. 131). This van and a dozen or so others like it delivered bakery products to the hospitals and health institutions under the ministry. For the last 10 years the bread van had stood on the premises of Termaki Autopargi AS, the successor of the motor depot, and was used as a storeroom. As part of tidying up the premises, Termaki Autopargi AS decided to donate the vehicle to the Järva-Jaani Old Tech Park. It is the Old Tech Park's 184th exhibit and its 12th TA-type vehicle. The TA-3761-01 bread van made in Tartu is, as far as is known, the only surviving vehicle of its kind in Estonia. Alongside the TA-3760 food vans and TA-3763 container trucks, which were very common in the last years of the Soviet era, the bread van with side doors was relatively rare. The van had five doors on the right side and shelves inside for trays filled with the bakery's products (bread and buns). At the shop the trays went straight onto the shelves in the sales room. This system was widespread in the Estonian SSR before container transport was introduced. The depot's former bread van driver praised the tray system – the goods stayed in place even on bumpy roads and were easy to hand out according to the delivery note. The Järva-Jaani Old Tech Park thanks Termaki Autopargi AS for the donation.
